The Match & Play Book 1 contains seventy (70) songs in the Match & Play format.

Most of the songs in the Match & Play Book 1 are derived from the American Musical Heritage.

The Match & Play Songs include children's songs which encourages young students to learn to play songs they have sung in school and therefore know.

The Match & Play Songs encourage adults because they already know most of the songs, and the songs are easy to learn and play.

Both young and adult students will enjoy playing the Match & Play Songs for themselves and for displaying their mastery of the art of music for their family members, schoolmates and friends.

The Lakeside Studios Quick And Easy (QE) Series

The Quick and Easy Piano and Keyboard Series (QE Series) is designed for learning how to play lead sheets—music written by melody with chord symbols and lyrics (if any), and to derive lead sheets from music written in Piano Score (Piano Grand Staff), Piano/Vocal Score (Vocal part with a Piano Grand Staff), and Guitar Tablature.

The student is shown how to read melody notes by finding the notes on keyboard diagrams, how to read chord symbols by finding the chord-tones and suggested chord positions on chord charts (QE 1), and how to develop bass notes and chord-tones for stride style piano accompaniment rhythm patterns (QE 2).

The student is also shown how to create arrangements of popular songs in two formats (QE 3):

A. The Pop Song Arrangement:
    1. Introduction.
    2. First Play (Play the song from the first to the last measure).
    3. Second Play with a Variation (Play the song by changing the melodic or/and accompaniment style).
        (Additional Plays can be added herein.)
    4. Ending.

B. The Jazz Arrangement:
    1. Introduction.
    2. The Head or In Chorus (First Play of the Song from the First to the Last Measure).
    3. Solos or Improvs or Choruses (Improvisations: Melodic for Instrumentalists, Rhythmic for Drummers).
    4. The Home Chorus or Out Chorus (Second Play of the Song from the First to the Last Measure).
    5. Ending.

Creating improvised arrangements of pop and jazz songs as well as classical or symphonic or themes and operatic and liturgical songs from lead sheets is called faking music or faking an arrangement or creating head arrangements because the performer is not reading and therefore not playing a completely annotated (written) arrangement. This type of performing arrangements is sometimes called fake music and the books which contain lead sheets used for faking arrangements are sometimes called fake books. The terms fake and faking are deceptive, however, because of the fact that to be able to fake an arrangement a performer has to have an extensive working knowledge of how music is written and how it works. Thus, fake music is by no means phony music; instead, fake music is real music, and fun to play.

When the student learns to fake arrangements of favorite or requested songs from lead sheets in fake books or otherwise derived from music books arranged in piano score (piano grand staff), piano/vocal score, or guitar tabulature, then playing music on a piano or keyboard becomes Quick and Easy!
